PSG Manager Pochettino Opens Up on Mbappe’s Future

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino aspires to see forward Kylian Mbappe stay put at the club for a “long time.”

Ahead of PSG’s upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg clash against Real Madrid, Pochettino took some time to speak to the Spanish-based press agency EFE, where he touched on Mbappe’s future with the club.

“I understand the need of the media to have news of one of the best in the world, but he is our player and we hope that he will be for a long time,” Pochettino said.

“Everyone is talking and we have to listen to him, he has already said that this is not the time to make a decision, we are waiting for him to decide. Everything else is just rumors, guesses that can be very far from reality.”

Mbappe remains on par to become a free agent at the end of the season, which will grant him the opportunity to leave PSG as a free transfer. Amid the links to Real Madrid coupled with PSG’s aim to sign the forward to a contract extension deal, he sure is currently much focused on the Ligue 1 side’s ongoing season.

Overall, Mbappe has been a star performer for PSG in all competitions this season, which includes the notable game-winning goal in the Champions League round of 16 first leg match against Real Madrid.
