It seems as if now in every match with the Argentina national team, Lionel Messi manages to reach a historic feat. During Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Venezuela, he once again did just that.
Messi scored a key, late goal in the 3-0 win over Venezuela. Overall, Messi has now scored 28 goals in his career in World Cup qualifying play, which has him in a tie with Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez for the top spot in this all-time leaderboard.

Messi could go on to hold sole possession of the top spot in this leaderboard if he scores against Ecuador next week and if Suarez fails to bag a goal in Uruguay’s upcoming clash with Chile.
