Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has found potent success as a playmaker this season, which includes 10 assists recorded in Ligue 1 play.
Overall, as he noted to Prime Video Sport France, PSG veteran defender Marquinhos has been much pleased to see Messi emerge as a keen playmaker this season. More so, he much aspires to see him rise to the occasion in the upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg clash against Real Madrid.
“On the field, you don’t see him, but he is a player who has the ball, and is decisive for the team, who makes decisive passes,” Marquinhos said. “He is a genius. I hope he scores a lot and is on his night against Real Madrid.”
Messi did not score or chip in with an assist in the first leg of the Champions League tie against Real Madrid. Still, the Argentine forward did create four goal-scoring chances and also notched two shots on target in PSG’s 1-0 win in the match.
PSG sure could use a vintage performance from Messi in the upcoming second leg. He is much expected to tag along with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the side’s attack in the contest.
