Sergio Ramos spent nearly two decades with Real Madrid, serving as a captain for the squad that won three straight UEFA Champions League trophies. Last summer, the 35-year-old departed Los Blancos, heading to Paris Saint-Germain signing a two-year deal.
A vital player alongside Ramos on the Real Madrid backline was Marcelo. The left-back spoke to El Hormiguero (via Paris Fans), where he discussed his memories playing alongside the PSG defender and a possible reunion.
“For me, he’s a big brother; he helped me a lot in my career, inside the club. I remember one day when I was very nervous, after winning a Champions League, and he told me to go upstairs and put the scarf on La Cibeles,” Marcelo said.
“He didn’t have to; it was his time. I said no because I was shitting myself, but finally, I got on. This photo says a lot; I will always be grateful to him. (…) It would be strange for him to play against us; maybe we will pass the ball.”
Ramos’ move to the French capital hasn’t gone as planned as he’s only appeared in a handful of matches for the Ligue 1 side. The Spanish defender’s calf injury has prevented him from playing.
Nonetheless, a recent report suggests that the central defender isn’t all too happy with the doctors at PSG. Furthermore, another source of information linked the defender to a possible move to MLS and joining the Los Angeles Galaxy.
PSG was hoping to get that Ramos that was a vital part of those Real Madrid teams that won the Champions League, but it hasn’t been the case, and it seems parting ways might be on the horizon.
