When Paris Saint-Germain decided to add Lionel Messi to their squad, they did so to help the capital club be one of the favorites to win the UEFA Champions League. The Ligue 1 side will welcome Real Madrid for the first left of their Round of 16 matchup.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino discussed during his press conference whether he believes his squad is the favorite to win the competition. However, the Argentine tactician stated that plenty of other formidable opponents could hold that title with the knockout stages about to get underway.
“I don’t think there’s more pressure on one side or the other. We respect Real, which is one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the best, for its history and its titles,” Pochettino said.
“It’s not a question of players. I think there is no favorite. It’s a match that can also be a final. We are aspirants for the final victory. I have confidence in my team and in our supporters who transmit energy to us.”
