Paris Saint-Germain snatched a victory away from Real Madrid following their first leg match at the Parc des Princes. Kylian Mbappé scored the lone goal late in the second half to give the capital club a good position heading into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
After the match, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi didn’t hide his happiness for the result by the Ligue 1 side during his interview with RMC Sport. The club chief applauded the match the squad gave on Tuesday night.
“We had a very, very good match,” Al-Khelaifi said. “The players played like a great team. We controlled the match from the first to the last minute, to our goal. It’s a perfect game.”
“We are very proud of this game, but it’s half-time; we have a second period left. I have confidence in the players and the coach to keep the lead cold. We are ready for the second act.”
Al-Khelaifi also addressed the displays that the ultras made last weekend and stated that everyone needs to be in a state of unity as they hit the most critical stretch of the season.
“We need them; we are all together, we are in the same boat, we win together, we lose together. Today I am very proud of the players, the coach, the sporting director, but also of the supporters… We don’t just play for Paris Saint-Germain; we also play for France,” Al-Khelaifi said.
