Sergio Ramos has so far had his first season at Paris Saint-Germain be marred by injuries, but Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal believes that the Spanish international will soon return to keen form.

Speaking to the Spanish-based station Onda Cero, Carvajal touched on Ramos’ campaign as of late and why he hopes to play against him in the upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie between PSG and Real Madrid.

“I feel identified with what is happening to him,” Carvajal said. “I know how he is. It is difficult to go through the same thing without having an answer.

“Sergio is a born fighter, and he will return to normal to be well. He deserves it, he’s a professional like the top of a pine tree. I would love for him to play against us.”

Overall, Ramos featured in two matches for PSG in the month of January, including his one-goal showing in the side’s Ligue 1 home match against Reims. He went on to miss PSG’s Coupe de France round of 16 clash with OGC Nice due to a calf injury.

It still remains to be seen whether Ramos will be fully fit in time to meet his former club in Real Madrid later this month.
