Premier League side Aston Villa is showing an early transfer interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to the Italian-based outlet CalcioMercato.
Wijnaldum opted to sign with PSG over the recent summer transfer window. After a successful run at Liverpool, he elected to take his talents to the Ligue 1 powerhouse as a free agent.
Aston Villa had itself a busy past couple of transfer windows. For one, the club opted to haul in Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona over the winter transfer window via a half-season loan deal.
Aston Villa is managed by longtime Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, and although the former English international shares a club connection with Wijnaldum, the two did not get the opportunity to share the pitch together in the last decade.
For now, Wijnaldum sure is set on featuring for PSG over the remainder of the campaign. He has so far played in 28 matches in all competitions this season.
