The list of current and former players who enjoy watching Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé play football grows. The latest to profess their admiration for the 23-year-old is Salernitana winger Franck Ribéry.
During an interview with Sky Italia, Ribéry praised his fellow compatriot, who recently impressed many in the football world following his first leg performance in the Champions League Round of 16 matchup against Real Madrid.
Clinical in front of the goal, formidable for his speed, and now able to make a difference one on one, Mbappé bears the mark of the greats, according to the Salernitana player.
“Mbappé is the strongest in general, he knows he has great qualities, but he doesn’t let himself be taken down. He does his job; he plays; he has fun. It’s a pleasure for him, and it’s pleasant when you see him play,” Ribéry said.
Despite the high praise of the PSG forward, Ribéry doesn’t consider him the best active scorer as that honor goes to his former FC Bayern Munich teammate Robert Lewandowski.
“Lewandowski is the number one striker for me at the moment, the strongest in the world for two or three years. He works a lot and likes to help the team. (…) I think he deserved the Ballon d’Or,” Ribéry said.
Nonetheless, having Mbappé in their squad puts the Ligue 1 side as one of the clubs that can challenge for the Champions League trophy. Ribéry believes that the French have the weapons to go far.
“In the Champions League, I see Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and maybe PSG. It does not depend on them; they have strong teams and great players,” Ribéry said.
