Former French midfielder Michel Platini has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is following in the footsteps of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the top player in world football.
In speaking to the Italian-based outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Platini was asked on who is the heir to both Messi and Ronaldo. The former French international went with the current PSG versatile attacker for notable reasons.
“Mbappe, he is very strong, super fast,” Platini said. “Today he is on top.”
Mbappe has received plenty of acclaims to be the next best player in the sport. His showings as of late for PSG have further backed his case on this matter. For one, he shined in PSG’s recent UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg clash against Real Madrid, where he rose to the occasion with the late game-winning goal in the match.
For now, Mbappe sure is set on team-oriented goals, as he aims to finish off the league campaign as a Ligue 1 champion and also aspires to claim a long-awaited Champions League trophy.
