Paris Saint-Germain is in UEFA Champions League mode as they prepare for their Round of 16 matchup against Real Madrid. The Spanish club will be visiting the Parc des Princes for the first leg, and the Ligue 1 side hopes to get off on the right foot.
Lionel Messi is one player that the capital club hopes to get a big game from, considering the number of times he’s played against Los Blancos. In an interview with Téléfoot (via Culture PSG), Marquinhos spoke about what he expects to see from the Argentine defender on Tuesday night.
“He’s a great player, a great man. It’s wonderful to see him in the locker room. I had already faced him a lot; he had made us suffer. Now I enjoy being on his side. He is gaining momentum,” Marquinhos said.
“I feel him more and more at ease. We try to put him well so that he can trust to give his best. If he has that, I think he will bring us a lot in this kind of big meeting.”
The 34-year-old has struggled to adapt to French football but has looked comfortable in the Champions League. Furthermore, playing against an opponent Messi knows, and at a stadium, he’s had plenty of good moments in, PSG should expect the best from him.
PSG has to advance past the La Liga side, or else the season is considered a failure, so there are heavy expectations heading into this matchup.
