Marca Reveals the Amount Spent by Barcelona to Replace Neymar, Lionel Messi & Luis Suárez

FC Barcelona lost Neymar Jr. in 2017, marking the end of their MSN attack that led them to a UEFA Champions League.

The Brazilian would be the first to depart, leaving for Paris Saint-Germain. Then a couple of years later, Luis Suárez would join Atlético Madrid. Finally, Lionel Messi would unexpectedly leave and join Neymar in the French capital.

Since the 30-year-old left in 2017, Marca reports that Barcelona has spent €552 million to replace all these three players, with the majority finding a long-term replacement for Neymar.

Ousmane Dembélé (€140-million) and Philippe Coutinho (€135-million) were supposed to replace the Neymar production, but both have failed to live up to the transfer price that the Spanish club spent. Barcelona also spent €41-million on Malcolm, who also didn’t work out.

The La Liga side has spent big to replace Suárez as €120-million went to Antoine Griezmann, who didn’t fit in during his short stint with the Catalan club. With Messi gone, Barcelona has spent €55-million on Ferran Torres to be one of the players leading them in the post-Messi era.

These players are the tip of the iceberg for big money spent to replace the MSN, two of which are at PSG.

  1. I think the club would have emphasised on developing its new talents rather than spending huge amounts on buying other made players
