Even amid Paris Saint-Germain’s recent roller-coaster form in all competitions, longtime Brazilian full-back Cafu sees that the Ligue 1 side is among the favorites to win the UEFA Champions League competition this season.
During a talk with the Spanish-based outlet Marca, Cafu was asked just which team he sees winning Europe’s most prestigious club competition this season. For a player who won this competition during his career, four clubs stand out to him.
“At four,” Cafu said. “[Manchester] City are always dangerous. PSG and Madrid are potential champions, but they play each other very early. And Bayern is always dangerous and they always play well. My money is on these four.”
As was the case in previous seasons, Manchester City and Bayern Munich sure enter this year’s Champions League knockout stage as heavy favorites to win it all this season. And as Cafu touched on, PSG and Real Madrid each have the potential to also pull off a deep run in the competition.
While there is now growing hype surrounding the upcoming Champions League knockout stage, PSG still has to take care of business in domestic play. PSG will square off with Lille OSC and Rennes before the first leg of its round of 16 clash with Real Madrid.
