Paris Saint-Germain is preparing to face off against Real Madrid in less than two weeks in their first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Ahead of the matchup, defender Dani Carvajal spoke in an interview with Onda Cero (via Paris Fans).

The 30-year-old talked about his friend’s injuries, PSG defender Sergio Ramos, and hoped that the former Real Madrid captain can play in the first leg on February 15th.

“I spoke with him after his last injury. I can identify with what is happening to him. It’s hard to explain the same thing over and over again and not have the answer. Sergio is a born fighter, and he will soon be back to normalcy, injury-free,” Carvajal said.

“He is extremely professional. If he plays, then let’s hope he’s not having a good day. He is a great player, and if he is at his best, he can create difficulties for us. But I would be happy if he was healthy and could play.”

Recent reports suggest Ramos won’t be available for the match as he is currently recovering from a calf injury. After recent appearances, some hoped that the veteran defender would play against his old club, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Furthermore, both teams will be looking to bounce back as the two crashed out in their domestic cup competitions this week. PSG crashed out in the Round of 16 in the Coupe de France; meanwhile, Real Madrid fell in the quarterfinals.
