Kylian Mbappé kicked off his 2022 in grand fashion as the 23-year-old scored a hat-trick in Paris Saint-Germain’s Coupe de France victory over Vannes by a 4-0 result. The France international carried the scoring responsibilities despite not having Lionel Messi or Neymar Jr.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media at his press conference following the match. The Argentine tactician elaborated on his previous remarks stating that Mbappé’s contract situation will not affect his performance.
“Kylian is a player we’ve known for years. We know his implication. This is not a problem. This will not affect his performance, which depends on other things than his contractual situation. I’m happy because he’s the player we all know,” Pochettino said.
“A player at the top level of the world. He played really well; it was nice to see the team play. The connection has taken hold within the team, with a great energy shown today. It’s positive. The icing on the cake is this hat-trick scored by Kylian with great goals.”
