Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is on track to miss another key fixture at this stage in the campaign due to his nagging ankle injury.
PSG released a medical update on Wednesday, which noted that the Dutch international has now returned to training on the pitch. However, the club sees that he is currently in line to return to the squad next week.
Barring any major changes in the coming days, Wijnaldum will end up being ruled out for PSG’s upcoming Coupe de France round of 16 clash with OGC Nice, which will come on Jan. 31.
Wijnaldum wound up missing PSG’s recent home fixture against Reims in Ligue 1 play because of his ankle injury. This was just the third game in all competitions this season that he missed due to an injury.
The Dutch international has so far totaled for 25 appearances in all competitions with PSG this season, which include three goals scored.
