Report: PSG’s Projected Starting 11 for the Away Ligue 1 Fixture vs. Lyon

Paris Saint-Germain is set to make its long-awaited return to Ligue 1 action in the upcoming away matchup against Olympique Lyonnais.

PSG comes into this key match with several notable absences. For one, Argentine forward Lionel Messi was cleared to return to the Camp des Loges after being away from the team due to a positive COVID-19 test. Still, he has been ruled out for this fixture.

More so, the likes of Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Layvin Kurzawa and Gianluigi Donnarumma all remain in self-isolation due to COVID-19.

Still, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino may very well go on to roll out a keen starting 11 for this upcoming encounter with Lyon, as noted by TyC Sports.

Navas; Dagba, Marquinhos, Ramos, Mendes; Herrera, Bitumazala, Wijnaldum; Simons, Icardi, Mbappe.

Veteran midfielder Ander Herrera earned a start for PSG in the recent 4-0 win over Vannes in Coupe de France play. The Spaniard could go on to have a feature role in the midfield against Lyon.

As the likes of Messi and Di Maria will be unavailable for this match, Pochettino may call upon both Xavi Simons and Mauro Icardi to provide some versatility in PSG’s attacking setup upfront.

PSG will look for its third straight win over Lyon in Ligue 1 play.
