The January transfer window is now open, and Paris Saint-Germain has already begun doing business by exporting players from their squad. Last week, the capital club reached a loan agreement to send Rafinha to Real Sociedad.
However, there is the possibility of dipping into the free transfer market and agreeing to a pre-contract with a player for next season. According to RMC Sport, PSG is currently monitoring the contract situation between FC Barcelona and Ousmane Dembélé.
Furthermore, the French media outlet is interested in the idea of acquiring the FIFA World Cup winner on a free transfer. Nonetheless, Dembélé’s priority would be to remain with Barcelona, but only if the Spanish side meets his terms.
The 24-year-old wants a new deal that will see him earn €20-million annually, but these are wages that Barcelona doesn’t want to give to the France international. As a result, negotiations remain at a standstill.
Injuries have played a role in causing Barcelona’s caution in these talks contract extension talks. Also, Dembélé has a lengthy injury history since arriving in Catalonia. So it will be interesting to see whether the forward moves on by signing a pre-contract this month.
