Report: Georginio Wijnaldum Turns Down Loan Approach Made by Premier League Club

Over the past few weeks, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been linked to a possible departure from the capital club. The 31-year-old has yet to lock down a position in the starting eleven and has struggled at times.

As a result, there are rumors regarding the midfielder leaving this January window back to the Premier League. However, The Telegraph (via Paris Fans) reports that Wijnaldum has already turned down one club about returning to English football.

The PSG midfielder reportedly rejected a loan approach made by Newcastle United. Wijnaldum spent one season with The Magpies before heading to Liverpool FC. Nonetheless, it seems the Netherlands international has no desire for a return.

Newcastle United finds itself in a relegation battle, and with their new wealthy owners, they’re hoping some spending this month can help them remain in the Premier League.

However, going from UEFA Champions League football to fighting to stay in England’s top-flight league does sound like a fall from grace. Moreover, if Wijnaldum does return to the Premier League, it won’t be with Newcastle United.
