January marks the return of the international window as nations continue the process to punch their ticket to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup later this year. Argentina will face off against Chile and Colombia, but La Albiceleste already has qualified for the tournament.

As a result, TyC Sports reports that Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni proposes that the 34-year-old avoid the wear and tear of this double qualifying date at the beginning of the year.

The Argentine media outlet that by consensus, he does not integrate the list of summoned to play against Chile and Colombia. However, Messi asked for a few more days to make the decision.

For Paris Saint-Germain, it’s music to their ears as they feel the call-ups have played a part in Messi’s adaptation to the capital club and Ligue 1, for that matter.

With Argentina likely calling other players, he can focus on the task at hand with PSG, which is trying to win the UEFA Champions League.
