PSG Mercato: Gianluca Di Marzio Provides the Latest on Juventus’ Pursuit of Mauro Icardi

Paris Saint-Germain wants to downsize their roster and cut wages of players who have no long-term future with the capital club. This week saw the departure of Rafinha on a loan deal to Real Sociedad, and it’s only the beginning.

With the January transfer window now open, PSG hopes to offload some talent, including striker Mauro Icardi. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via Paris Fans), Juventus recently launched the first contacts for Icardi.

Despite the Serie A side beginning a dialogue over the 28-year-old, the clubs have not yet spoken about the formula or the price of a possible transfer, but there has been an initial inquiry.

Juventus will have to decide if they want to advance for the Argentina striker in the coming days. The Ligue 1 side will assess whether it is willing to accept a loan without an obligation to buy which is Juventus’ preferred agreement.

Icardi arrived at the French capital to replace Edinson Cavani but has failed to secure the striker position, and Kylian Mbappé has overtaken the goal-scoring responsibilities for Les Parisiens.

As a result, Icardi has become an expendable piece for the French giants.
