Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has been a regular in training as of late. The veteran Spanish defender was fit to take part in PSG’s recent Coupe de France round of 32 fixture against Vannes but was unable to play in the contest due to a yellow card suspension.
Still, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino opted against featuring Ramos in the Ligue 1 away fixture against Olympique Lyonnais. Instead, the Argentine manager relied on Brazilian defender Marquinhos to lead the backline.
In speaking to Prime Video Sport France (via Le10Sport) following the match, Pochettino opened up on his decision to not feature Ramos in the match.
“We are playing with four defenders,” Pochettino said. “The competition is great for all. I hope he can play in the next matches, but the decision was to play with Kimpembe and Marquinhos. He is fine, it was a choice.”
Ramos last featured for PSG in the away league encounter against Lorient, where he was sent off over the second half after earning a second yellow card.
It sure will be noteworthy to see whether the Spanish international will go on to appear in PSG’s upcoming home league fixture against Brest.
