As the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid is just mere weeks away, there is still no official, final word as to Neymar’s status for the clash with the La Liga side. The Brazilian forward has been sidelined since November due to an ankle injury suffered during PSG’s Ligue 1 fixture against AS Saint-Etienne.
As noted by L’Equipe, Neymar is “optimistic” that he will be available for the opening leg of the round of 16 tie against Real Madrid.
Neymar now does not feel any pain in his ankle and more so, his entourage stands confident that the Brazilian forward will be fit for the tie.
PSG recently provided a notable update on Neymar’s ankle injury, as it noted that the Brazilian forward has now started to run again.
The Brazilian forward has so far featured in four UEFA Champions League fixtures this season where he has posted a 1.5 key passes per match average.
