Paris Saint-Germain came away with a 2-0 victory over AS Monaco courtesy of a brace by Kylian Mbappé. In goal, the capital club went with Gianluigi Donnarumma, who made three saves for the clean sheet.
Monaco did their best to try and get the ball past Donnarumma with 13 total shots, but 10 of those were either off-target or blocked. As a result, the Italy international had to make only three saves for a somewhat easy night.
After the match, Donnarumma spoke to PSG TV, where he provided his thoughts on the win over Monaco.
“It was a great victory and without conceding a goal, but the most important thing was to win and do it with attitude. We started very well, opening the scoring quickly and then controlling things until the end of the match without conceding a goal,” Donnarumma said.
“Obviously, it was important not to lose at home in front of our supporters, but we don’t want to lose away either! But of course, it’s good to win at home and to please our supporters. My match? I always try to help the team and always do my best. I know the team has confidence in me, and I try to restore that confidence. We must continue like this; we are on the right track.”
