Paris Saint-Germain drawing Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 brought back the constant talk regarding the future of Kylian Mbappé. The 22-year-old’s contract expires in June, and the likely destination outside of the French capital is with Los Blancos.
Former PSG midfielder and RMC Sport pundit Jérôme Rothen spoke on his “Rothen s’enflamme“ program where he discussed the role sporting director Leonardo has played in this saga.
Rothen stated that he would judge the club chief on his ability to extend Mbappé, which he sees as a failure right now.
“I’m going to judge Leonardo on one case: Kylian Mbappé. Extending it was his priority when he returned to Paris. This is what the club leaders asked him,” Rothen said.
“On arrival, it is a failure … Because Mbappé continues to make media outings against PSG, and everything is in the direction of a departure … Just this failure Mbappé, it’s terrible for Leonardo.”
