The Right Hand Man of Zinedine Zidane Discusses the French Manager’s Future

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has dealt with a good amount of the supporters calling for his sacking. The Argentine tactician was also linked to the Manchester United job before the Premier League side filled their role.

During the swirl of rumors involving Pochettino, other reports began coming out suggesting that the capital club was reportedly eyeing former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

The French tactician’s right-hand man responded to these rumors in an interview with Marca (via Foot Mercato). David Bettoni stated that Zidane does intend to take the year off and remains open to any club if the situation is right for him.

“I don’t know; I haven’t really talked about his next destination. He said he was going to take a year off. I know Zizou very well, and he doesn’t think about that, I know he’s with his family, and when he’s ready, he’ll listen to the offers, and we’ll see who wants to sign him too,” Bettoni said.

“I think he is open to anything and that he will decide if the club is right for him if there is something he doesn’t like; if he is competitive. There are a lot of factors, and we have to see at the end of the season where he will train.”

In a recent interview with Eurosport 1, PSG sporting director Leonardo gave a vote of confidence to Pochettino as it seems as though the Argentine manager will remain in charge for the remainder of the season. Furthermore, Leonardo stated that the Ligue 1 side has yet to have any discussions with Zidane.

“We never contacted Zidane or any other coach. With Tuchel, before speaking to Pochettino, we had not spoken with another. We never contacted Zidane,” Leonardo said.
