Report: Leonardo Turns Down Juventus’ Swap Proposal for Mauro Icardi

The January transfer window is opening in a few days, and Paris Saint-Germain is at work looking to offload players who have no future with the capital club. One of the players reportedly on the list of available is striker Mauro Icardi.

Icardi has never been able to hold down the striker position, and now with Kylian Mbappé taking over that role this season, the 28-year-old has become an expandable piece. As a result, Juventus made an offer for Argentine forward.

Reports suggest that the Serie A side offered midfielder Arthur in a swap deal for Icardi. However, Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Canal Supporters) reveals that PSG sporting director Leonardo has turned down that offer.

The Italian media outlet further reveals that Leonardo would be open to letting Icardi go if the deal is a loan with an obligation to buy clause attached to it. Icardi is under contract until 2024 and has made 20 appearances this season, scoring five goals for PSG.
