Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes was part of a Foot Mercato report that had him as part of seven players that the capital club is trying to offload with the January window approaching.
The French media outlet stated that a possible return to Italy would be possible since he’s often seen his name connected to an Italian club.
However, the 27-year-old appeared on an Argentine media outlet, TyC Sports, to deny the rumors of a possible exit. Furthermore, Paredes revealed that he’s in discussions with PSG over a possible contract extension.
Paredes’ current deal expires in June 2023, so it appears both sides are laying the groundwork for the midfielder to remain in the French capital. Furthermore, the Argentine went on Instagram to put a picture of himself with the caption saying “happiness.”
The Ligue 1 giants need to offload players who have no future, such as Rafinha and Layvin Kurzawa, but it doesn’t seem they’ll include Paredes. The midfielder arrived in 2019 from Zenit Saint Petersburg and has flashed his potential on various occasions.
Despite the inconsistency, it seems as though PSG wants to continue having Paredes as part of their squad and perhaps finally fill that defensive midfielder role.
