Paris Saint-Germain wants to bring a midfield to lessen their reliance on Marco Verratti. Despite being one of the more talented players at his position, the 28-year-old misses games the capital club needs him for, either due to injury or suspension.
According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via UOL Esporte), PSG is one of the teams eyeing Juventus midfielder Arthur. The report states that Juventus is interested in a possible player swap where Mauro Icardi would go the other way.
Arthur wants to leave the Serie A club this January, which the media outlet confirmed via his agent, Federico Pastorello. The player complained about his playing time since the arrival of Maximiliano Allegri.
The defensive midfielder has only played eight games this season, four in the Champions League and four in Serie A, and the goal of reaching the 2022 World Cup is the 25-year-old’s priority.
PSG aren’t the only clubs mentioned in the report. Sevilla and Lazio are the two other sides possibly interested in the Brazil international. Nonetheless, whatever happens, it seems Arthur wants out of Turin, and the only way is through a loan.
Despite the Ligue 1 side needing a midfielder, Arthur isn’t what the team needs; perhaps they take a shot to rid themselves of Icardi. Nonetheless, grabbing a player who has failed to establish himself at FC Barcelona and Juventus doesn’t seem like it will address the issues in the midfield.
