Over the years, Kylian Mbappe has developed into being more of a multidimensional attacking talent, from being a reliable goal-scorer to also exerting an influence as a playmaker. He has formed keen chemistry on the pitch with Neymar and has done the same with Lionel Messi over the Argentine’s early run with the club.
As he explained to PSG TV, Mbappe sees that it is quite vital for him to be an unselfish talent when playing alongside the likes of Neymar and Messi.
“I think that when you have great players around you, the most important thing is that they are happy because you will also benefit from them,” Mbappe said. “Even if you don’t score, you’ll enjoy yourself and you’ll manage to win titles because that’s why we’re here too.
“Of course, when you play with players like Messi or Neymar, you can’t shoot 12 times from 12 times you get the ball. It’s not possible. You also have to know how to give to your friends, to please them. And that’s natural because these are players who will contribute, and who will help us win.”
Mbappe has translated this success over to the stat sheet. For one, he has recorded eight assists in Ligue 1 play this season. Barring any injury or notable drop-off in performances, the French forward is well on pace for the first 10-plus assist campaign of his Ligue 1 career.
More so, Mbappe has also been quite a playmaker in UEFA Champions League play thanks to his four assists recorded.
The French forward could go on to tag along with Messi in PSG’s upcoming Coupe de France knockout stage fixture against Feignies.
