Gianluigi Donnarumma surprised the footballing world when he opted to join Paris Saint-Germain over the recent summer transfer window. The Italian goalkeeper signed on with the club as a free transfer.
Overall, there were several factors behind Donnarumma’s decision to sign with the French powerhouse. For one, PSG midfielder Marco Verratti spoke to the Italian goalkeeper about the club and wound up playing a decisive role in his final decision to take his talents to the Ligue 1 side, which the shot-stopper spoke further about to PSG TV.
“I was with Marco in the national team, and he told me about the club, the city,” Donnarumma said. “He helped me a lot to make my choice.
“I am happy, as soon as I arrived the fans made a great impression on me, I am very happy to have chosen Paris.”
Donnarumma has so far been sharing the starting goalkeeper duties with Keylor Navas this season. The two goalkeepers have had their fair share of success in the campaign.
For now, it will be noteworthy to see whether Donnarumma may be in line to feature for PSG in the upcoming Coupe de France knockout stage clash with Feignies.
