Domenech Spotlights the Key Factors Behind Messi’s Recent Promising Performances for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has turned around his form as of late with the French powerhouse. At one point in the season, he sat at zero goal contributions in all competitions. Now, he has totaled for nine goal contributions over the ongoing campaign, which include five goals in UEFA Champions League play.

For former French national team manager Raymond Domenech, he has seen notable improvements in Messi’s performances as of late for the Ligue 1 side, which he touched on to L’Equipe.

“The real Messi, it does not mean anything anymore,” Domenech said. “There was a Messi of a time and there is a Messi of now. I think that compared to his championship games, he is evolving. He’s more active, he runs, he makes technical gestures, he passes and he scores.

“And the question is not what we expect from Messi, but rather whether today he has made progress. Yes, he is better than he was a fortnight ago.”

For now, Messi and company will be up for a key Ligue 1 home fixture against AS Monaco. Even as the Argentine forward has been in promising form in Champions League play so far this season, he could be in need of a potent performance against an opponent of Monaco’s caliber in Ligue 1. Overall, he has notched four goal contributions in league play in the campaign.
