There is now some concern for Lionel Messi ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s upcoming UEFA Champions League away fixture against RB Leipzig.
Messi was subbed off at halftime of PSG’s recent Ligue 1 fixture against Lille OSC. PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino noted after the match that the decision to remove from him the contest was made due to his minor muscle discomfort issue.
As noted by L’Equipe, Messi did not take part in PSG’s scheduled training session on Monday. The Argentine forward was instead receiving care for his left muscle issue.
The report added that for the moment, Messi is not slated to take part in PSG’s Champions League return clash with RB Leipzig. A final decision on this matter is expected to be made by PSG’s coaching staff on Tuesday, but barring any last-minute changes before the match, Messi will end up missing the contest.
PSG will look to notch its third straight Champions League group stage win of the season with a possible away victory over the German side on Wednesday.
