Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t like when a club unstable their players who are under contract. FC Barcelona found out the hard way when they tried to lure Marco Verratti away from the French capital.
Les Parisiens would later pay the release clause for Neymar Jr., bringing the Brazil international to the French giants in 2017. History could repeat itself, this time with another Spanish club.
According to El Nacional (via Paris Fans), the capital club could perhaps take some revenge on Real Madrid for looking to unstable forward Kylian Mbappé. The report states that the Ligue 1 side eyes striker Karim Benzema, whose contract expires in 2023.
Furthermore, the Spanish media outlet adds that Benzema wouldn’t rule out a return to French football. PSG reportedly intends to offer the 33-year-old one last big contract when his current deal with Real Madrid expires.
El Nacional details that Benzema is upset by club president Florentino Pérez’s interest in Erling Haaland. The France international wants to be the headliner, and a hypothetical arrival from the Norwegian would mean the spotlight would be on Haaland for him.
As a result, he could consider not renewing his contract and moving to Paris free transfer. Benzema will be 35-years-old in 2023, so it seems unlikely that if PSG made a move for the star forward, it would either be this coming summer or look at young prospects, should Mbappé depart.
