Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera earned a start in the recent UEFA Champions League away group stage fixture against Manchester City. He was subbed off in the second half due to an apparent injury, and there is a possibility that this may have been his last in-game action of the calendar year.
As noted by L’Equipe, medical tests confirmed that Herrera is dealing with a notable hamstring injury. At the least, he is expected to miss a month of action, but there is a possibility that he may be sidelined for more matches as well.
Herrera has essentially been PSG’s most reliable midfielder so far in the campaign. The Spanish talent has not missed a single fixture this season due to injury, but this will now change as he is set to be sidelined for the team’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against AS Saint-Etienne because of the hamstring issue.
PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino may now call upon Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes to take Herrera’s spot in the team’s go-to starting lineups.
