Sergio Ramos is yet to feature in a fixture with Paris Saint-Germain this season. The veteran Spanish defender has been sidelined due to a calf injury suffered before PSG’s opening fixture of the ongoing Ligue 1 campaign.
Dani Carvajal featured alongside Ramos for a multitude of key fixtures during their time together at Real Madrid. The Spanish full-back believes that even amid Ramos’ recent injury woes, there should not be any questions surrounding his professionalism, which he touched on during a press conference (via Marca) ahead of Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk.
“I can identify a little bit with what is happening,” Carvajal said. “He is the one who wants to be there as soon as possible, the first one. I find it hard to believe what is being said. You can’t doubt his professionalism. I don’t think PSG will do something like terminate his contract. I welcome him with open arms here and in my house.”
PSG noted on Tuesday that the Spanish center-back has been taking part in individual training sessions as of late. PSG has not yet provided a timeline as to when he could possibly make his first appearance in Ligue 1 play this season.
PSG is set to take on Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in Champions League group stage play on Wednesday.
He’ll be back and just as strong as ever. He was the one I loved to hate because he was so good at Real Madrid. It’s ridiculous to doubt him.
