Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum will not feature in the team’s upcoming Ligue 1 away fixture against AS Saint-Etienne due to injury, as noted by the club’s official website.
Wijnaldum is currently dealing with a tendon injury in his left knee. The Dutch midfielder did not take part in the team’s scheduled training session on Friday as a result of this notable injury.
Overall, Wijnaldum will not be the only PSG talent to miss this match as Marco Verratti (quad), Ander Herrera (hamstring) and Mauro Icardi (muscle strain) will also be sidelined due to their respective injuries.
At the least, Wijnaldum is slated to return to training later this week.
Wijnaldum did not play in PSG’s recent UEFA Champions League away group stage fixture against Manchester City. The Dutch talent was named to the bench, but manager Mauricio Pochettino elected to not feature him as a substitute in the contest.
For now, PSG will look to extend its Ligue 1 winning streak to four matches. And more so, the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar may be called upon to lead the French powerhouse in this key league fixture.
