A few days ago, a story out of Spain reported that FC Barcelona wanted to see the return of Xavi Simons. The 18-year-old left La Maisa for Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, but the midfielder ponders his future as his contract expires next summer.
Nonetheless, Spanish media outlet Sport reports that PSG has its eyes on defender Diego Almeida. The 17-year-old central defender is under contract until 2023, so it seems Les Parisiens are planting the seeds to bring another player from La Masia.
Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe, and Marquinhos are at the top of the depth chart. However, the former Real Madrid captain is 35-years-old, and Presnel Kimpembe’s form is taking a dip, so perhaps PSG can convince Almeida that there’s the possibility of earning first-team minutes in the future.
Now this news might not be connected with the Simons situation, but PSG has shown that if Barcelona is sniffing around a player they have under contract, they’ll be plotting their revenge move.
The Spanish media outlet adds that Almeida intends to continue playing for Barcelona. Nevertheless, PSG pushes him to change his opinion since he has not debuted with Barça B.
