PSG Announced Neymar is Out 6-8 Weeks With Sprained Left-Ankle

Although Paris Saint-Germain came away with a 3-1 victory over AS Saint-Étienne, it did come at a cost. The capital club lost Neymar Jr. to an ankle injury midway through the match.

The vision of the ankle rolling caused many to fear for the worst. After further evaluation, PSG announced that Neymar suffered a sprained left ankle with ligament injuries. The French giants state that the 29-year-old will be out for six to eight weeks. He’ll be re-evaluated in 72 hours.

Neymar’s 2021 is over, and the Brazil international will have to prepare for 2022 as he should be in line to return midway through January. The rehab period should be focused on getting Neymar ready to return for some fixtures to be match fit for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

PSG can lean on Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, so there should be no rush for Neymar to return if he’s not 100-percent fit. The duo can hold down the fort with the upcoming league matches as the Champions League matter is more important.
