Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is one of many coaches in world football today who appreciates the sheer play of midfielder Marco Verratti.
In speaking to Ligue 1’s official website, the Argentine manager took some time to laud Verratti, as he opened up on just what makes the Italian midfielder one of the more efficient press-resistant talents in world football today.
“And then, football player, we are not going to discover, we know him,” Pochettino said. “The best player. He won the Euros with Italy. And like a player he is amazing, we are not going to say nothing new. But like a professional and like a man, I love him too.
“Yes, it is a player that has this capacity. How he keeps the ball, how he drives, the ball, dribbles, this capacity to make things easier when, for another player, it is difficult. He is amazing in this way.”
The PSG midfielder has shined countless times in this area of his play, especially in the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament with the Italian national team.
Many other managers and even players today have also spoken about Verratti and how he is one of the more potent midfielders in the sport today.
Verratti is currently dealing with a notable hip injury, and he may miss several more matches due to the ailment. Overall, he is reportedly an early doubt for PSG’s upcoming UEFA Champions League away group stage fixture against Manchester City.
