Photo: Messi Nominated for the IFFHS Men’s World Best Playmaker 2021 Award

Argentine and Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has been nominated for the IFFHS Men’s World Best Playmaker 2021 award.

The Argentine forward joins the likes of Barcelona midfielder Pedri and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric on the shortlist for this notable honor.

Messi has won this award four times before, including in 2019.

The PSG star has not yet picked up an assist or played much of a role in being a playmaker for the French side this season, but he did have much success in this area of play with Barcelona last season and in the 2021 Copa America tournament with Argentina.

  1. Why are people using the performance of footballers in 2021/22 season to determine the winner of 2021 Ballon d’Or?
The Organisation is considering performances of players in 2020/21 to know the best. Robert Lewandowski would have been a strong contender but Poland was no where on international competition. Jealousy wants to take it away from the lion, Lionel Messi. Having won it for the 7th time should not disqualify him. Organisers and people should appreciate God who delivered him from injuries – the enemy of footballers.
