Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi sure has been the main attraction within his team so far in the season. From media attention to sheer focus on a match-by-match basis, all eyes have been on Messi’s early run with the French powerhouse.

Olympique de Marseille manager Jorge Sampaoli sees (via RMC Sport) that Messi has already made one notable impact in Ligue 1, even though the Argentine forward has not yet even spent a full season with PSG.

“He gave another status to Ligue 1 when he arrived, after having spent his whole life in a club,” Sampaoli said. “It is another football for him, another language. It will always be the best in the world, but it is up to him to smile again, to find his football, to become this different player again. I think it is a luxury for French football to have him here, but we must also understand all that this change of club has resulted in him.”

On the pitch, Messi has begun to find his footing in Ligue 1. The Argentine forward recently ended his goalless streak in league play with the French powerhouse during its 3-1 win over Nantes, where he scored a key late goal to seal the home victory.

Next up for Messi and company will be the upcoming away league matchup against AS Saint-Etienne. It sure would be crucial if Messi were to score in consecutive league matches at this point in the season.
