It appears as though former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is on the verge of returning to the pitch, and for Paris Saint-Germain, it couldn’t come at a better time as the defensive side of their game can have mental relapses.
During an appearance on RMC Sport (via Paris Fans), former PSG forward Nicolas Anelka stated there is no doubt that the Spain international still has the qualities to show everyone he can be efficient on the pitch.
“He is a leader and a fighter, but to take the players to the top, you have to be efficient on the pitch,” Anelka said.
“What he did at Real, it would have to be reproduced at PSG. Living on what you have done does not exist in football. It’s still a big question mark, even if I see it coming back and getting everyone to agree.”
Ramos will help take some of the leadership responsibilities off Marquinhos shoulders, much like Thiago Silva did during his time in the French capital.
Furthermore, the pending arrival of the 35-year-old will hopefully cause Presnel Kimpembe to pick up his performance with now competition for minutes at the center-back position.
The France international has seen his form take a dip. The most recent evidence is the match against RB Leipzig, where he committed an unnecessary foul leading to a penalty kick opportunity and a draw for PSG.
