Video: ‘The Team Showed Great Mental Strength’ – Mauricio Pochettino Discusses PSG’s Win Over Angers

Paris Saint-Germain returned from the international break with a mixed squad against Angers SCO. Nonetheless, the capital club did get off to a sluggish start as they conceded the match’s first goal.

Angelo Fulgini opened the scoring for the visitors, and it would take PSG up until the 69th-minute mark when Danilo Pereira scored off a header to tie the match. Kylian Mbappé would convert the penalty kick at the 87th-minute that would become the game-winning goal.

Following the victory, Manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media at his press conference, where the Argentine tactician applauded the mental strength of his squad.

“I always emphasize the collective. But I think we started the game well, having more than 70% of possession. We conceded actions, which could make our performance “ugly” at the start, but the team showed great mental strength,” Pochettino said.

“We made seven changes compared to the last match, due to the difficult conditions linked to this post-international break. It is very difficult for us not to have the time to work on a daily basis. But I repeat, the team delivered a big effort, it’s a great victory and three important points taken today.”
