Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi is considered by some arguably the best at his position. It’s why the capital club didn’t think twice when spending €60-million on the 22-year-old to acquire him from Inter Milan.
However, in an interview with Canal Football Club FC Bayern Munich, right-back Benjamin Pavard didn’t provide the standard media answer. Instead, the 25-year-old stated that when he’s at his best, there’s no question that Pavard is the better player over Hakimi and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“If Didier Deschamps trusts me, it’s not because he really likes my beautiful eyes or my beautiful hair. He is aware of my qualities. On paper, Pavard may be less sexy than (Achraf) Hakimi or (Trent Alexander) Arnold, but I find that defensively I am more complete,” Pavard said.
“I would have liked to be more respected in France because I am French, but after that, I will not force people to go to watch the matches in Germany. Real people who watch football know the performances that I have had and that I am doing.”
