PSG Mercato: Manchester United Prepared to Lose Paris SG Target Paul Pogba on a Free Transfer

Paris Saint-Germain needs to improve its midfield as Marco Verratti can’t stay healthy and those behind the 28-year-old aren’t at the level that the Italy international can bring when he’s on the pitch.

Over the summer, the capital club reportedly expressed interest in various midfielders, one being Manchester United’s Paul Pogba. However, the Premier League side wanted to hold onto their star player in hopes of reaching a contract extension.

Nonetheless, ESPN reports Manchester United is preparing to lose Pogba on a free transfer next summer. The midfielder has yet to agree on a new deal with the midfielder as the winter window approaches.

As the team underperforms, there’s talk of whether Manchester United could be open to letting the player leave in January rather than losing him on a free transfer.

Despite facing the reality of losing Pogba, the report states that the club chiefs with the English club believe that the benefits of having the player available for the last six months of the season outweigh a potential transfer in January.

Despite not leaving during the upcoming transfer window, PSG could begin talks with Pogba and agree to a pre-contract with the France international that will kick in next season. It will be interesting to see what approach the Ligue 1 side takes on the Pogba file.
