There has been much anticipation for the 2021 Ballon d’Or award final vote, especially as it will be handed out next month. Many have made their pick on who should win this coveted honor, including PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.
In speaking to the Spanish-based show El Partidazo de COPE, Pochettino revealed his pick for the players that should finish in the top three for this award along with which talent is most deserving of claiming this honor.
“The Ballon d’Or should go to [Lionel] Messi without any doubt,” Pochettino said. “And if I didn’t coach Messi, I would say Messi. I answer with my heart. I always say what I feel. On the podium would have to be [Robert] Lewandowski and Cristiano [Ronaldo].”
Messi has been tabbed by many as the overwhelming favorite to claim the 2021 Ballon d’Or award for what would then be the seventh such win of his career. The Argentine forward has had much success over the calendar year, which includes leading La Albiceleste to triumph in the 2021 Copa America tournament.
From the likes of Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski to Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, Messi sure will have much competition for this world football honor.
