Italian National Team Manager Mancini Provides a Unique Take on PSG’s Donnarumma and Navas Goalkeeper Dilemma

One of the main storylines at Paris Saint-Germain this season has been the competition between Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas to be the team’s starting goalkeeper.

Both goalkeepers have posted promising performances in all competitions this season, including in UEFA Champions League play. Navas had key saves in the away match against Club Brugge while Donnarumma shined in the home match against Manchester City.

For Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini, he is much backing Donnarumma at this stage in the season, which he recently explained why (via Sky Sport Italia).

“He played a great game in the Champions League,” Mancini said. “He is the greatest goalkeeper in the world at the moment and although at PSG there is another great goalkeeper, I don’t think he will remain on the bench for long.

“I think he can help PSG win the Champions League.”

PSG has one more match upcoming before the October international break, which will come in the key Ligue 1 away fixture against Rennes. It will be notable to see whether Donnarumma or Navas will get the call to start in this fixture.
