As was the case in years past, Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is among the contenders for the 2021 Ballon d’Or honor this year. The French talent has so far scored key goals in all competitions this year, which has included totaling for six goals in UEFA Champions League knockout stage play last season.
In a question-and-answer segment with Telefoot, France national team manager Didier Deschamps offered a two-word answer on whether the forward will one day claim the honor for what would then be his first such win in this career.
“Yes, probably,” Deschamps said.
As it stands, PSG forward Lionel Messi is much the favorite to go on and win the 2021 Ballon d’Or Award this year, especially after he helped lead the Argentina national team to triumph in the 2021 Copa America tournament.
Still, it will be noteworthy to see on where Mbappe will finish in the final vote for the award this year.
