Former France National Team Manager Domenech Makes a Bold Claim on Pochettino’s Decision to Sub Off Neymar Against Rennes

Paris Saint-Germain had yet another sluggish attacking outing in Ligue 1 play as it came away with a 2-0 defeat against Rennes. The French powerhouse recorded 13 shots in the game, but none were on target.

Neymar earned a start in the match as he played in 76 minutes of the contest and won 10 ground duels.

Former France national team manager Raymond Domenech sees that PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino may not have been satisfied with the forward’s performance in the match, which the former French coach explained further to L’Equipe.

“He protects him but he still took him out of the field in the 70th minute (subbed off in the 76th minute) and we do not take Neymar out much,” Domenech said. “And the player did not say anything at all, so he himself is aware that it is insufficient.

“Pochettino did not take out Mbappe, Messi or even Di Maria. That’s how bad he must have found Neymar.”

Neymar has not had his way with chipping in for goal contributions on a game-by-game basis over the ongoing Ligue 1 campaign. He has only recorded one goal and two assists over five league matches this season.

The Brazilian forward sure will look to post vintage showings in Ligue 1 play following the October international break.
